We recently got a flip video camera. Here are a few videos I took of Nora.
Here she is climbing one of the ladders at Roby Park.
This is a favorite now at the park. The "corkscrew" She will climb up and spin down over and over again!
Singing songs in the pool. She had a great time.

Nora
Beth is 10 months old!
What! I can't believe it. 10 months already! The last month has gone by so fast!
Beth is still doing a half crawl half hitch, but it's beginning to look more like a crawl. When she's outside, it usually is a crawl. She's also pulling herself to standing and starting to cruise a bit. Only a few steps, but I know it won't be long before she's cruising all over! She doesn't have any real words, but will say "dadadada" a lot when she's looking at Andy, "mamamama" when she's looking at me and "nanana" when she's looking at Nora. Nora and Beth are playing much better together now. Nora is still getting used to Beth's mobility and sometimes gets very upset if Beth gets to her toys, but she's learning how to redirect her sister. Nora also loves to care for her sister - helping to feed her, picking out her clothes for the day. It's really sweet!
Beth has 6 teeth - 4 on top and 2 on the bottom and more seem to be on their way. She's normally a great sleeper, but has been waking a bit more over the last 3 nights. She's eating wonderfully and eats almost anything. Avocado and pear is still one of her favorites. She also, surprisingly, really likes to eat asparagus! She was fussing and reaching for my plate one night, so I just gave her a spear and she ate almost the whole thing! Crazy! We just started giving her yogurt and oatmeal recently and they are also both big hits. Also, scrambled eggs are one of her favorite finger foods. We cook the lentils in homemade chicken stock, but otherwise she hasn't had any meat.
We are at the stage of the impossible diaper change. As soon as you get the diaper off, she rolls over and takes off. I have temporarily started doing diaper changes on the floor. Like her big sister, she loves to swing and loves being outside. She takes two naps a day pretty well. The first is often either in the stroller or Ergo and the second is in her crib. She's having a more difficult time napping outside of her crib because she doesn't want to miss anything ,but eventually she will just pass out. She still won't take a bottle, but Andy was able to get her to bed one night, which means I am able to play hockey on Wednesday nights!

10 month teddy bear photo!

I had a difficult time getting the teddy bear photo this month. Beth took a look at the teddy bear and then stood up. She made some great faces while "escaping" the photo.

I decided it would be safer to put her on the floor!

Here's a sweet photo my mother in law took while we were in Maine.

One of Beth's favorite places to pull up is on the baby gate. Then often times will shake the gate like she's telling me to let her out!

Playing outside!
Nora and Beth both adore being outside. Unfortunately (for me, anyway), Beth is not afraid of the grass like her big sister was, so sitting her on a blanket does not confine her to an area. It can be a bit challenging chasing them both, but at least for now, I'm faster than both of them! Nora's getting quicker on her trike though, so it won't be long before she could just take off. We usually play in the backyard - where we have a sandbox, a swing, a water table and a playhouse (and a pool on warmer days), but sometimes we'll spend time in the front yard - especially if Nora wants to ride her bike or if we've just come back from a walk and we are just waiting for daddy to come home from work.
Here are a few cute photos I took of the girls outside recently.

Memorial Weekend
We had a quiet but busy Memorial Weekend. Most of my family was in Oregon at my Aunt Sue's wedding. We were sad to miss it, but after a long weekend trip to Maine the weekend before, we were somewhat relieved to just stay home. We spent some of the time doing yard work and also made it out for a hike! Nora had fun the whole weekend.
Nora sitting on a big rock at the bottom of the trail.

Taking a rest on the trail. Nora did really well on the flat trail, and rode on Andy's back when she got tired (which, naturally, occurred when the trail started uphill!).

Snacktime!

One of Nora's favorite activities for the weekend was helping to spread the bark mulch. She is still asking to put down more mulch!

Being goofy and wearing Beth's sunhat.

A shot of some of our work. We moved one of the azalea's, but in a rhododendron, and added some hostas, bee balm and a few other perennials. We also planted some cat-mint near the mailbox. Made our front yard look a lot better!

9 Month Well Baby Visit
Beth's 9 month well baby visit was earlier this week. Yes, 4 days before she turned 10 months old. She's doing great - 26.5inches long, 44.5cm head and 17lbs 14 oz. She's more petite than Nora was - Nora was a half in longer and a full pound heavier at 9 months.
I took Beth's 9 month photos a little bit after her 9 month birthday to let her chicken pox clear up a bit. Here they are:

The Grocery Store
Grocery shopping with two children is always a challenge. I had been putting Nora in the grocery cart seat and Beth in the Ergo. However, now that Beth is bigger, she's not always happy in the Ergo, and Nora prefers to walk and 'help' me grocery shop. So, I switched to putting Beth in the cart and letting Nora walk with the stipulation that if she ran off or started putting extra groceries in the cart SHE would get to ride in the Ergo. This worked well for some trips, but most of the time, the trip would be just a bit too long and Nora would run off so she could rest in the Ergo for the remainder of the trip. Then, Nora discovered the car grocery carts, which I really dislike because they are very long and the child is way out in front of you! But, it was a great solution because Nora would sit in the car and "drive" and Beth would sit in the cart seat. Yesterday, Nora asked if Beth could sit with her. I was skeptical, but I placed Beth in the car and buckled her in. I only needed a few things, and I could always take her out. The two of them were the most well behaved they have ever been at the grocery store. Nora explained to Beth how the steering wheel worked and showed her where to put the keys to start the car (note: there are not keys and there are no holes for keys on the carts). It was so cute. One of the managers at the grocery store gave Nora some stickers while we were waiting in line, and Nora was kind enough to share them with Beth. I got this shot of the two of them interacting so well...and then pulled the sticker out of Beth's mouth!
The Butterfly Place
Yesterday, we went to the butterfly place in Westford, MA. It's basically a big warm room with beautiful flowers and tons of butterfly's flying around. It was amazing to watch the wonder in Nora's eye's as she watched them. Of course, if one got too close (or heaven forbid, land on her), she freaked out, but she enjoyed watching them flutter about and spoken about them many times today. I used our macro lens on the camera and got a number of great photos while we where there. Beth, of course, happily sat in the Ergo on my back and watched the other kids and the butterflies.
